This is a very interesting gown from the 1930s. Interesting in its chunky lace. The 1930s was all about featherweight dressing; women were finding all sorts of ways to remove the heavy layers of their mothers. Here the lace used is more evocative of the thick Edwardian laces than the Chantilly, which was popular. What is great however about this lace is that in its weight and loose weave it drapes and clings to the body like the bias cuts of the day. Full draped sleeves add to the luxurious weight and feel of this gown, which is in near mint vintage condition.
