The glorious textile of this jacket is not to be contended with. The designer has ingeniously cut the pattern to place all the color in the back. Madeline Vionnet herself said that"One should see the wearer first, the dress second" And she echoed in an era of low or fantastically detailed backs. She kept her designs clean and simple around the face. The entire garment is not cut on the straight grain, allowing the fabric to move with the body, a luxurious feel lined in silk satin.
